The band became a fixture on the local club scene working regular at a number of hot Toronto night spots. These performances and accompanying acclaim led to well received performances at famed Greenwich Village clubs Café au Go Go and Bitter End as well as larger New York venues opening shows for the Jefferson Airplane and The Grateful Dead among others.
Luke and The Apostles also left a lasting impression with their 1967 hit "Been Burnt” and 1970 single “You Make Me High". “You Make Me High” was arguably one of the best records to come out of the Toronto scene from the period, reaching #27 on Canada’s RPM chart.
Since those halcyon days the band’s core members — Gibson, McKenna and Jermyn — have continued to work in the music scene in various combinations and collectives. While Luke & The Apostles had reunited on a number occasions in the past, they have now re-reformed with plans to perform on a regular basis.
